UKind Therapy CIC is a survivor-led Community Interest Company. We build trauma-informed technology that helps people feel safer, calmer and more in control — alongside the services already doing this work.
Founder story
Amanda Haigh, founder
UKind started with a simple, difficult observation: support often arrives long after the moment it was needed.
Amanda founded UKind from lived experience of abuse and of the wait that follows asking for help. Not to tell her story on every page — but because that experience made one thing obvious: the hardest hours are rarely the hours when an appointment is available.
So UKind was built the other way round. Start with the moment. Make something that can be there immediately, that asks nothing of the person using it, and that hands them back choice, control, confidence and connection at their own pace.
Since then UKind has grown from an idea into an organisation working with universities, NHS teams, refuges and frontline services — and recognised nationally for survivor-led innovation.
How we work

Survivors decide what we build, what we do not build, and when something is not ready to be used.
Practitioners keep us honest
Frontline teams test how our support fits real caseloads, refuges and safeguarding duties.
Access needs come first
People with a range of access needs are involved from the start, not consulted at the end.
